Commuting in Chennai

Chennai has very good network of buses and trains connecting the business centers with the fast developing suburbs.

Visitors to Chennai usually arrive at the following terminals..

Buses :
Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), at Koyambedu

Trains :
Chennai Egmore - for trains connecting Chennai with the rest of Tamilnadu (mostly via Thiruchirapalli) and Kerala.
Chennai Central - for trains connecting Chennai with North and West India and trains to Vellore, Salem/Erode and Coimbatore in Tamilnadu

Flights :
Anna International terminal, at Meenambakkam
Kamaraj Domestic terminal, at Meenambakkam

All these terminals are well connected by public commuting options to various parts of the city. In case you want to travel with better comfort, you may book prepaid taxis, made available at Airport and Railway stations recently.

Auto-rickshaws are also an option, but most Chennai auto-rickshaw drivers are known to not turn on the meter and to overcharge arbitrarily . So discuss the fare with the driver before you hop into one.
